DENNIS GOLF UPDATES:

Rory McIlroy has a big week coming up competing to win the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai for the second time and his tremendous swing speed (in the range of 120 mph) will be supported by Nike’s newest shoe, the Lunar Control 4.

“I have been looking forward to wearing this shoe for quitNike-Lunar-Control-4-Shoes_960_t620e some time. It’s a design I’ve been involved with ever since my first year with Nike,” McIlroy said in a statement. “It gives me the confidence needed to maximize power in my swing with reliable control on the ground, especially off the tee.”

The Lunar Control 4 will launch to the public on Nike’s website on Nov.27 at a retail or $170 and in select Nike retailers on Dec. 1 and has a 2-year waterproof guarantee. Three color combinations will be available for men (black and white, white and wolf grey, white and bright crimson) and three for women (black and white, white and wolf grey, pure platinum and bright crimson).

The Lunar Control 4 uses Flywire technology for midfoot lateral support, a new external heel counter to keep the foot in place during a swing, a re engineered lightweight microfiber upper for a soft and unrestricted feel, a tongue that wraps ergonomically around the ankle for a natural break when walking, and the same outsole and Lunarlon midsole from the Nike Lunar Control 3.

Also, as with the previous model, the “swoosh” has been moved up to the toe creating an entirely new look.
